P1M worth of firecrackers seized in Agusan del Sur


BUTUAN CITY- An estimated P1 million worth of undocumented pyrotechnics and firecrackers — whistle bombs, kwitis, Picolos, five star and baby rapid — were confiscated at a police checkpoint in Agusan del Sur on Saturday. Police operatives, headed by San Francisco, Agusan del Sur Chief of Police by PS Insp. Joel Biñas , confiscated assorted pyrotechnics and firecrackers on board on a Hyundai van (with plate number LYH 265). The official report from Caraga Police Regional Information Office said the van from Davao was bound for cities of Butuan, Surigao and Cagayan de Oro. The police reported having confiscated the following:

  • eight boxes of Picolo;
  • 1,000 boxes of kwitis;
  • 500 whistle bombs;
  • six boxes of blade;
  • 15 rounds of bangs;
  • 100 boxes of baby rapid B-33;
  • three boxes of pop yellow;
  • three boxes pop red, and
  • 20 reams of five star. The police said the contraband items were allegedly owned by certain Macky Abdul Danagin and Jimmy Olama Lampa of Cateel, Davao Oriental. The confiscated firecrackers are now under the custody of San Francisco Municipal Police Office, the report said. –VVP, GMANews.TV
